Our group keeps a keen eye on the growth of our defined benefit pension plan. Many other states face severe pension plan shortages, so it’s important to maintain Delaware’s pension status.

Seeking pension adjustments to offset the effects of inflation

A dignified retirement for school personnel who labored for many years to educate future generations is the main focus of our organization.

Maintaining much needed medical benefits

As retirees, our medical benefits are not guaranteed. DRSPA advocates strongly for their continuation.

The Mission

The mission of the Delaware Retired School Personnel Association is to maintain and improve the social, educational, economic and recreational welfare and status of retired educators in the local community, state, and nation.

Our Goals…

  • Assist pensioners

    in their dealings with the Delaware Office of Pensions

  • Assist members

     in matching their skills with volunteer opportunities

  • Hold a State-wide

    Annual meeting in the fall

  • Hold County-level

    meetings in the spring

  • Fund and administer

    partners in education grants to assist in the improvement of instruction

  • Issue a newsletter

    four times per year

  • Provide advice

    to the Pension Review Board regarding proposed changes in Delaware Pension policies

  • Meet with legislators

    and the governor to lobby for improvement of benefits

  • Communicate

    with other state retired education personnel associations

Ready to join?

All Delaware public school retirees, including: bus drivers, cafeteria workers, administrators, guidance counselors, diagnosticians, psychologists, teachers, aides, paraprofessionals, secretaries, clerks, nurses, building level and district administrators, etc.

We welcome retirees from the nineteen school districts, the Department of Education, charter schools and from Delaware Technical and Community College.

Surviving spouses of school personnel retirees may also join.

Partners in Education Grants

You are invited to apply for a Partners in Education grant that is being provided by the Delaware Retired School Personnel Association. The goal of this grant offering is to assist teachers in improving student performance in one or more subject areas.
